Grafana Loki is strongest when the team specifically wants open-source log aggregation inside a Grafana-centered ecosystem. OpenObserve and VictoriaMetrics are broader platform stories, with more explicit claims around unified observability and wider product families.
That makes architecture more important than feature checkboxing. Teams should decide whether they want a logs backend, a broader observability platform, or an OSS foundation that can later turn into a managed or supported enterprise deployment.
