Buildkite belongs in the catalog because it represents a specific kind of platform decision that mature engineering teams still make every day: they want modern CI/CD and test optimization tooling, but they do not want to surrender control over how and where workloads run. That is why Buildkite continues to matter. It combines SaaS coordination with self-hosted and hosted compute options, strong pipeline primitives, and increasingly meaningful adjacent products like Test Engine and Package Registries. For stack builders, it is less a generic CI subscription and more a flexible software-delivery layer.

It also deserves inclusion because the pricing model is specific enough to support real comparison. On the public pricing page, Buildkite shows Pro with 10 self-hosted agents included and then $2.50 per agent per month, plus 250 managed tests included and then $0.10 per managed test per month. The same page also publishes hosted-agent rates such as Linux Small at $0.013 per minute and Mac M4 Medium at $0.18 per minute, while Package Registries starts with 50 GB included and then tiers from $1.25 down to $0.25 per GB. That level of detail makes it easier to reason about than many enterprise CI vendors.
