Cloudflare Workers runs your code on Cloudflare’s global network with a Workers Free tier (limited daily requests and tight CPU time) and a Workers Paid plan with a $5/month account minimum that includes higher allotments. On the Standard usage model documented in developers.cloudflare.com, paid accounts include millions of requests per month with overage around $0.30 per additional million requests and tens of millions of CPU milliseconds included with overage around $0.02 per additional million CPU ms. Cloudflare does not bill egress or throughput for Workers to the Internet on that model—a major difference versus hyperscaler function bills. Static asset requests routed as static assets are free and unlimited.
Pages Functions are billed as Workers. Durable Objects, Queues, and other add-ons have separate meters. CPU time limits per invocation and cron/queue consumers have higher ceilings—read limits docs before porting long jobs.
Workers fits HTTP middleware, edge rendering, lightweight APIs, and global fan-out. Compare AWS Lambda@Edge or CloudFront Functions when you are already all-in on AWS; compare Fastly Compute@Edge; use Fly Machines or Render when you need long-lived TCP or large RAM footprints.

Workers’ economic edge is often egress and request pricing, not raw CPU—profile how much work you do per request. Durable Objects and storage SKUs change the model from stateless functions. For comparisons, Vercel Edge Functions bundle into frontend cloud plans; Fastly Compute targets similar buyers; Lambda remains the default inside AWS accounts.
