Kubernetes (DOKS) starts at $12/month with a free control plane positioning on the product card. App Platform and Functions both list $0/month starting tiers for managed hosting and serverless respectively (usage still applies beyond free allowances—Functions advertises 90,000 GiB-seconds/month free with no separate invocation charge on the platform benefits copy). Managed databases start at $15/month. Spaces object storage starts at $5/month. Load balancers start at $12/month. Container Registry lists $0/month with one repository and 500 MiB free tier details on the platform benefits section.
Networking highlights include free VPCs, free inbound bandwidth, public internet egress overage about $0.01 per GiB, and generous Droplet outbound transfer bundles that vary by plan. GPU Droplets list on-demand from about $0.76/GPU/hour and contracted from about $1.88/GPU/hour on the pricing hub. Promotions such as $200 credit for 60 days for new accounts appear on marketing pages—confirm eligibility.
Compare Fly.io or Railway for global edge and fast deploys; compare AWS/GCP when you need hundreds of managed services or bespoke enterprise contracts.

Read bandwidth and egress carefully—DO’s benefits list $0.01/GiB public internet overage after included Droplet allowances. Functions free GiB-seconds cover a lot of idle/low-traffic workloads but collapse under steady load—model duration and memory. GPU quotes split on-demand vs committed—don’t mix them in forecasts. For alternatives, Hetzner and Linode-class vendors compete on raw VM value; hyperscalers win service breadth.
